玄関から続く廊下には、有元 利夫氏の版画作品二点が並び、その中央の小さな出窓に、中国・唐時代の「婦人俑（ふじんよう）」が静かに置かれています。
まるで華野を訪れるお客様一人ひとりに向けて、慎ましくお辞儀をしているかのような佇まい。その姿は決して主張することなく、しかし確かな存在感をもって空間に迎え入れる気配を宿しています。
唐代の婦人俑は、当時の理想的な女性像や精神性を象徴するものとされ、長い年月を経て刻まれた文様や表情には、深い慈しみと静かな品格が漂います。儚げで繊細でありながら、歴史の重みを内包するその姿は、置かれているだけで空間に一本の芯を通す力を持っています。
館主は、この婦人俑を飾るのではなく、「迎える存在」として出窓に据えました。自然光が差し込むその場所は、人工的な額縁ではなく、時間と光がつくる天然のフレーム。出窓そのものが作品の一部となり、俑の陰影や質感が刻々と変化します。
廊下を行き交う一瞬の中でふと立ち止まり、時を越えた気配に心を預ける——。そんな静かな導入として、この婦人俑は華野の世界観をやさしく語りかけています。
Tang Dynasty Lady Figurine — A Welcome Across Time
Along the corridor leading from the entrance, two print works by **Toshio Arimoto** are displayed, with a small bay window set between them.
Within this window rests a Tang dynasty Chinese lady figurine, placed as if gently bowing to welcome each guest arriving at Hanano.
This female figurine, known as *fujin-yō*, embodies the ideals and sensibilities of women in the Tang dynasty. Over centuries, delicate patterns and subtle textures have been etched into its surface, conveying a quiet sense of compassion, refinement, and history. Though modest in scale, its presence draws a clear line through the space, grounding it with calm dignity.
The inn’s proprietor chose this figurine not as a decorative accent, but as a welcoming presence. Positioned within the bay window, it is bathed in natural light, which acts as a sacred, ever-changing frame. As daylight shifts, shadows and textures emerge, making the window itself part of the artwork.
In the brief moment as guests pass through the corridor, this figurine offers a silent pause—an encounter with time, memory, and stillness. It serves as a gentle threshold, guiding visitors into the world of Hanano, where art and hospitality quietly intertwine.
