有馬温泉のアート旅館 高山荘華野の「レストラン四季亭」では、インド洋の楽園セイチェル島で採れた椰子の実(やしのみ)〈ココ・ド・メール〉を花器に見立てた掛花入を展示しています。
世界的プリミティブアート・コレクター稲葉 京(いなば たかし)氏が選び抜いた一点物で、艶やかな曲面と自然が刻んだテクスチャーが、漆喰壁や木の梁と驚くほど調和します。
館主は「稲葉さんの大胆な発想に射抜かれた」と語り、なげいれの草花を活けて南洋の生命力と日本の静謐を表現しています。

Coco de Mer Hanging Vase — Island Beauty in Shikitei
At Shikitei, the restaurant of the art-focused inn Takayamaso Hanano in Arima Onsen, a unique hanging flower vessel is displayed—crafted from a coco de mer palm nut harvested in the island paradise of the Seychelles.
This one-of-a-kind piece was selected by renowned primitive art collector Kyo Inaba. Its lustrous curves and naturally carved textures harmonize beautifully with the restaurant’s plaster walls and wooden beams.
The innkeeper recalls being “struck by Inaba’s bold imagination,” arranging seasonal flowers in the nageire style to express a meeting of tropical vitality and Japanese tranquility.
The presence of the palm nut lends gentle structure to the space, heightening even the colors of the dishes served.
