Japanese-Style Room
The Japanese-style room was designed and constructed by Hirata Construction (founded by Masaya Hirata). Inspired by the tearoom of Tankosha in Kyoto (designed by Yoshirō Taniguchi and constructed by Sotoji Nakamura I), the innkeeper modeled this room accordingly. With its elegant polished Kitayama cedar alcove pillar, a coffered ceiling combining beautifully grained Yakusugi wood and white bamboo, the room exemplifies a refined sukiya style with a harmonious yin-yang balance. A hanging scroll by the court noble and calligrapher Mitsuhiro Karasumaru quietly graces the tokonoma alcove.
